Three leading landscape architecture firms assembled teams of local and international experts to compete for the chance to design Baltimore’s next great recreational and natural waterfront on the Middle Branch.
Between May 29 and June 12, 2019 the public could visit exhibits (online or in person) and share their comments on the competition entries.
Each of the firm’s proposals were evaluated for technical merit, feasibility of the ideas, ability to integrate community feedback, originality of design vision, responsiveness to the competition’s objectives and to the site and its context, as well as the overall quality and clarity of the presentation materials.
The jury’s recommendations were provided to the Baltimore City Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, who endorsed the top ranking of West 8 Urban Design and Landscape Architecture. City agencies and their partners have been negotiating with West 8 and plan on launching the planning process in early summer 2020.
